This November the gastronomic heart rate of Kyiv will definitely increase as RestArt once again gathers friends and associates.
On November 14-15 the RestArt international forum will once again open its doors for anyone whose life and professional activities are connected to restaurant management and hospitality. The essence of this event is encrypted in its name: on one hand, it’s RestArt – the philosophy of treating restaurant management as an art form; on the other it reads as restart – namely, the opportunity to rethink and redefine oneself within one’s business after getting the forum’s participants’ collective experience.
Chefs and managers, brave restaurateurs and passionate investors, sophisticated experts, demanding critics and insatiable enthusiasts – all the guests of RestArt 2019 will gather at Pochayna Event Hall for communication and learning, for getting inspiration, new ideas and motivation, for sharing experience and getting excited with the creative energy of hundreds of people under one roof.
The architects of RestArt are The Restaurateur Ukraine company founded by Sophia Kolomytseva and Sergiy Trakhachev – the company is the publisher of several magazines covering restaurant management, as well as the organizer of several educational projects for the hospitality professionals in Ukraine; and Food&Success by Julia Chesnokova – a company that runs educational projects for restaurateurs and chefs, and serves as HoReCa Speaker Bureau.
There are several streams that help the guests of RestArt 2019 get settled in the ocean of ideas and experiences. First – the open lectures of the speakers, then – the Manager Lab, that serves private sessions for a limited number of trainees. The Chef Lab gives access to applied knowledge of the kitchen masterminds, and the Expo&Test fair lets observe and try out the bestselling products as well as the innovative commodities that have just appeared on the market. The option of getting both official and informal interaction with the leaders of hospitality will create the perfect environment for networking – and this is one of the principal goals of RestArt.
The ability to introduce the audience to the premium speakers of the sphere is the main point of pride and the ideological priority for the RestArt founders. The primary ambition is to get the celebrities of the sphere closer to their followers, to reduce the distance, as well as to put Ukraine of the world’s gastronomic and restaurant maps. Over and over again RestArt brings to us the world hospitality stars, and this year is no exception.
Joe Warwick, the legendary British food-critic and journalist, who founded the World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards in 2002, will grace RestArt 2019 with his presence. If being successful for the restaurant is defined by its getting into different rankings and guides, Joe Warwick is the one who can tell if Ukrainian restaurants stand a chance in this endeavour.
World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards is as influential and prestigious in the restaurant world as the Oscar is for the movies. The criteria for getting into the list were initially different from the ones of the Michelin guide and other awards – and due to its moderately liberal concept, the Awards gave way to many unknown restaurants and to a few emerging and gifted young chefs.
The “branching” of the Awards into sub-awards felt inevitable and logical – the One To Watch award singles out the promising restaurants and restaurants with interesting concepts, the Lifetime Achievement award recognizes the respected and experienced masters, Chef’s Choice award promotes the establishment chosen by all the chefs who represented their restaurants in World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards list the previous year.
The book Where Chefs Eat by Joe Warwick became the bestseller and gained its sequel in a successful mobile app that guides thousands of people through the world of gastronomy up to this day.
If there are people who change the course of history, Joe is definitely one of them. It was with his help that during the last 10 years chefs acquired the celebrity status close to those of the Hollywood stars, and the gastronomy gained the global popularity and increased interest on every level throughout the world.
After leaving the World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards, Joe founded another – The World Restaurant Awards. There is no doubt that his lecture at RestArt will be packed.
Tom Mackenzie, the general manager of Manhatta restaurant, USA, is also the star of RestArt 2019. Tom is a gifted leader and an exceptionally motivating speaker. His competence covers all the aspects of the restaurant administration, from hiring and teaching the staff to manage budgets, menu planning, business promoting, the overview of the implementation of legislation, the work with the negative in the kitchen as well as in the restaurant halls, etc.
Tom got first noticed by the hospitality market when the respected British online-community CODE Hospitality included him in the 30 Under 30 – the list of the thirty most promising hospitality professionals who are younger than 30. Tom then worked as an assistant general manager at J Sheekey Restaurant & Atlantic Bar in London – and his career took off. After working at two Michelin-starred Modern restaurants at MoMA in New York he was hired by America’s most successful restaurateur Danny Meyer and became the general manager of Manhatta restaurant which is located on 60s floor of one of the skyscrapers in Lower Manhattan.
At RestArt 2019 this universal soldier of British origin and American grip will tell about the trends in service, broadcasting the philosophy of Danny Meyer, his boss and the author of the bestselling books Setting the Table and Second Helpings from Union Square Cafe. Tom obviously prefers to learn from the best – and we invite the guests of RestArt to do the same.
Yet another anticipated guest of RestArt is the restaurant marketing guru Mark McCulloch, the creative genius with a twenty-years experience and the founder of the full-service agency We Are Spectacular based in London. Applied cases, digital trends, tricks of the restaurant, hotel and retail marketing – coming from one of the most demanded marketers in the UK capital.
This charismatic speaker is behind the marketing strategies of such global hospitality brands as YO! Sushi, Pret A Manger, Costa Coffee, Bill’s, Busaba, Fuller’s Pubs and Hotels, Dark Star Brewery, Harviestoun Brewery, Chop’d, Gail’s Bakery, MOD Pizza, Small Batch Coffee, Iberica, Peach Pubs, ETM Group, SSP Brands (Upper Crust, Caffe Ritazza, Delice de France, Millie’s Cookies, James Martin Kitchen, Paul Hollywood Bakery), Jackson + Rye, Limeyard & Red’s True Barbecue.
